Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
An important political figure said the incident left him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
